It's a bird, it's a plane...

...it's a Superhero! Kyler has been really into superheroes lately. He got a few Spiderman figurines for his birthday and absolutely LOVES them. Just the other day he was pretending to be a superhero, as he usually does, only this time he had on quite the get-up!He had stripped down to his undies (like many superheroes wear) and had his sword (a.k.a the golf club) in it's scabbard (down the side of his underwear)! He was ready for any danger that might come his way! I loved every minute of it!

Fantastic at Four Months

"Mr. Bigeyes"

Blake, that is! He is a pretty fantistic baby, if I don't say so myself! We took him to his four month well-baby check up and he is doing phenomenal. Dr. Ripley said he is thriving...and that's not hard to tell by looking at him; he's my little "Chunky Monkey"!

He weighed in at 14.8 pounds (easily doubling his birthweight) which fell into the 48th percentile. He measured 25.5 inches which is in the 77th percentile (yes, the Urich boys will be tall like their uncles!). And his head circumference was 15.75 inches which is only in the 7th percentile - Blake has always had a small head and for that I am thankful! We were able to say yes to all of the milestone questions that Dr. Ripley asked therefore, Blake is right on track!

He is smiling a TON, laughing out loud, grabbing onto toys, chewing on EVERYTHING, rolling over from front to back (though not for the camera therefore, I have no evidence), and kicking lots! We have had two nights in a row with 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep, so hopefully this becomes a habit. He is a pretty great baby! We LOVE Blake James!

A Night at the Zoo!

Brian (my older brother) was invited to an evening at the zoo through his work. Unfortunately, he, Courtney and the girls had another obligation, so we invited our friends the Ratliffs. It was very nice...not only did we have exclusive access to the zoo after closing time, but we also had a nice dinner, a few drinks (hence, my phone drowning in beer) and a free carosel ride!Kyler and Hailey posing by the elephant.

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

For the past couple of summers I had wanted to sign Kyler up for swimming lessons but never got around to do it. This summer our friends, the Ratliffs (we met when we were taking child birthing class when I was pregnant with Kyler and Julie was pregnant with Hailey) asked if we were interested in having our kiddos in the same class. So Julie took initiative and signed both kids up - Thank you, Julie!

As we were walking into the Family Fun Plex, Kyler was nervous yet excited. Then when he saw what he was going to do (they had the same level class right before his) his eye grew to the size of saucers. He really wasn't sure what to think of the whole situation. His teacher was really understanding and put him at ease right away. They worked on things like kicking, blowing bubbles, floating, and the doggie paddle. By the end of the class Kyler was having fun, laughing and jumping into the water!

Kyler talked about how much fun he had the entire car ride home. He said his favorite part was jumping into the pool. As the conversation lulled he said, "Today is a beautiful day!" I proceeded to ask why he thought it was so beautiful, and he responded with something to the effect that he was just really happy because he got to go to swim class! Ahhh, how sweet...I don't think he even realizes that we get to go eight more times!

Blake's Jibber Jabber!

Blake has been a lot more aware and alert these days. He has found his voice and LOVES to use it. I don't mind because I LOVE to hear it!

Kyler's "Date" Day

While over here on the Western Slope of Colorado (visiting Grandma and Grandpa on the farm), we decided to take advantage of having extra sets of helping hands. Josh and I took Kyler on a "date" day - a day spent only with mommy and daddy, while Blake got some quality time with Grandma!

Not too long ago Kyler told me, "I want to ride a cheetah!" I sadly broke the news to him that that is probably something that he will NEVER get to do, so he responded with, "Ok, then I want to ride a horse." I told him that that was a little more manageable. So since we were coming over to visit the Delta area, I contacted one of my friends, Amanda, who has two very old, tame horses. She obliged by inviting us over to hang out with her and her girls to ride. At first Kyler was a little uneasy, but then by the end he didn't want to get off!Petting BellaBrushing BellaRiding Bella with his friend, MayaRiding all by himself!

Once we were finished with riding the horse, we took Kyler out to lunch at the Ole Bakery Cafe. The food was delicious and the scenery beautiful! We even saw a deer walk right by the creek (pronounced crick in these parts)! My, what a BIG sandwich you have! Just wonderin' throughWhat a GREAT day spent with two AMAZING boys!
