Picnic Fun!

As I have mentioned MANY times before, we can't say enough good things about Debbie! She is so great! She even had an end of the year picnic for all of her families. This was a chance for the parents to get to know each other a little bit more than the, "Hi" and "Bye" while dropping off and picking up our kiddos. It was really nice. All of the families brought a dish, Debbie provided the drinks, dessert, and the toys. Kyler had a wonderful time and even got to meet some new friends--older sibblings and such.
It was a terrific way to start off the summer!

Kyler absolutely adores Debbie. Just recently he has learned to pronounce her name very clearly, and he LOVES to say it. This morning he got out his play cell phone and was pretending to call her, "Hel-low Deb-bie" he'd say. Debbie works only with teachers, therefore she gets all the breaks we do including summer. We will surely miss her! For the last day of daycare, Debbie decided to take all 9 of her kiddos (which included the ones that usually go to school) to the movies (BRAVE WOMAN!).This was Kyler's first-ever experience with a movie theatre. She said it was incredible! He did a phenomenal job! Apparently, when Shrek started, Kyler was very excited and was pointing to the screen and saying, "Ooooh, wook (look), Deb-bie!" And when I picked him up he was all too eager to tell me all about it! When I asked him if he had gone to a movie, he responded with an enthusiastic, "Yesss!" and then a loud roar (I guess Shrek roars in the movie)! Thanks Debbie! We are very thankful for you and all that you do!

Bruce's, Birthday, Rockies, Summer!

Last weekend was quite the weekend in the Urich household. But really none of it even took place in our house! On Friday night the Greeley West staff got together for their annual bike ride to Bruce's Bar in Severance (about a 12 mile bike ride). Unfortunately, it was heavily raining so only a few "die-hards" rode. Josh, Kyler and I drove out there. If you are from Colorado, you may know that Bruce's is famous for their "Rocky Mountain Oysters" (cow balls). On the way into the restaurant, Josh asked Kyler, "Would you like to eat balls?" He responded with, "Yeah! Eat BALLS!" Then when we were ordering our food, he told the waitress, "EAT BALLS!" Classic!

Then on Saturday, Josh turned the big 30! We had planned to go down to Denver and eat dinner at the Melting Pot. Josh had never been there, so it was a nice birthday treat! We got the whole shi-bang: a bottle of wine, cheese fondue, lots of different meats and vegetables for our main course, and topped it off with a delectable chocolate fondue. Delightful! Our friend Jaime came with us to the restaurant and then she drove us into downtown Denver. Josh had NO idea that he was about to get the surprise of his life! I had planned to surprise Josh with some friends and family at Sing Sing's (a dueling piano bar). As we were getting out of the car, Jaime told us that she wanted to take us to this place called "The Keg", a lie of course. Then as we were walking towards the place I asked, "What else is down here?" She listed off a bunch of things and then told us that Sing Sings is down here too. Josh's eyes lit up and he said that he wanted to go there. When we walked in, a few of our family members were there to surprise him. It was terrific - Thanks to everyone that made his birthday extra special!Since I had reservations, they knew that it was his birthday and got him up on stage.

Since we were already in Denver for the weekend, we had also planned to catch a Rockies game. Although it wasn't Kyler's first game, it was probably the most meaningful. He really got into it. At about the 5th inning he started to get really cranky (it was right around naptime), so we decided to duck out a little early. On the entire way to the car, he was whining and crying, "Bye, Bye Ba-ball". We were in the car maybe two minutes before he passed out.

To top off such a great weekend, this week was our last week of school! I get to spend an incredible summer with my two favorite men! How lucky am I?

Marvelous Mother's Day

Being a mother is one of the most rewarding and gratifying jobs that I have ever had...and I can't believe that I done it now for nearly 2 years. There is no better feeling in the world than when your child comes running into your arms with a gigantic smile on his face saying, "Hel-low Mama!" As I have said many times before, Kyler amazes me each and everyday. He is now talking a lot more and it is just so neat to watch a part of you learn, play, and grow into their own little person. He is just so fun to be around (most of the time).
When I was in middle school I didn't ever think I would mutter the words that I am about to say, but I am very thankful to have such a wonderful example of such a kind and loving mother in my life. My mother and I have become extremely close over the years, and for that I am grateful. Not to mention, my mother-in-law is fabulous as well. Kyler is just so lucky to be loved by so many strong and beautiful women. Including his phenomenal day care provider (his "mom away from mom"), Deb.

Mother's Day this year couldn't have been any better than it was. I told Josh that all I wanted was breakfast in bed with real bacon (none of that turkey bacon crap). He delivered! Then we took our crib AND stroller back to Target (they were on the recall list). Kyler was showered with loads of new stuff. In the afternoon we were able to try out the new stroller. The day was beautiful so we went for a family walk. Just a fine day spent with my two favorite boys!

Other Random Fun

Another one of Kyler's favorite things to do is walk around in other people's shoes.One day he found Daddy's tennis shoes and Daddy found Kyler's tennis shoes!
Kyler also LOVES his bath time, so lately I've been having to trick him into getting out. One way I do this is to excitedly talk to him about what "jammies" we could wear. Then he gets all excited about getting his jammies on and voluntarily gets out of the tub. Just after we got baby Collin's birth announcement, Kyler realized that he has the same jammies as baby Collin. He LOVES pointing this out by saying, "bood-ball" (football) and walking around with Collin's picture.

Spring Sweetness

With the changing of the season comes the changing of our favorite activities! Kyler absolutely LOVES playing outside! I'm pretty sure he would live outside if we let him. A fight breaks out every time we have to come inside.

My cousin Stanley is graduating from high school...Congrats Stanley, so all the cousins got together to celebrate! Kyler went bowling for the first time and LOVED it!

One day after school, we got the chance to meet up with Angy, Lanie, and baby Collin at the toddler park. It's a neat little place designed specifically for toddlers. It has the foamy padding on the ground and all of the equipment is for little people.

Even though the weather is getting nicer, it is very unpredictable (welcome to Colorado). Last weekend it was a little dreary outside, so we had to find a good indoor activity. When we went to the Children's Museum over spring break I got a recipe to make salt dough. Kyler thought it was pretty cool! We were playing with it and I was trying to show him how to roll it into a ball. Once the ball I was making was finished I handed it to Kyler. He thought it was neat! Then all of a sudden he decided to take a huge bite out of it! I immediately started to some what shout, "NO, NO! Yucky!" But then I stopped myself because I had just made it myself and knew it only had flour, salt, water and oil in it and it wouldn't harm him. He then realized what it tasted like and instantly spit it out! A few minutes later I asked him, "Should Mommy taste it?" He responded, "No, No Mama!"
I can't wait until summer! Only four more weeks of school!

Welcome Collin James!

Angy (my BFF) just delivered the second Kinyon child! Collin James was born Friday, April 2 at 5:08. We are so excited to welcome another friend into this world!
Kyler was so good with him! It makes me excited to start expanding our little family!
