Like Father, Like Son

Kyler got a hold of my Victoria's Secret advertisement......let's just say it kept him occupied for at least 10 straight minutes!

I stand corrected...

...by a 2 1/2 year-old!

This morning on the way to work, not only was it snowing and I was running late, but we seemed to be having to stop at every stoplight between our house and Deb's (there are many). I was frustrated so I murmured, "Son of a bitch." to myself. Kyler responded with, "What Mom?" I told him that I was sick of having to stop at every red light. Then he said, "Ok, don't say bitch again Mom!" Humbly, I told him he was right and chuckled underneath my breath. Thinking of this has kept me smiling all day! Thanks for the advice Kyler!

Who got scared of who?

Early this morning we were awoken by a crazy ruckus! It all stared with Lucy's vicious bark, one that I had never heard before...it was so deep and mean that I truly thought that there was something terribly wrong. Then about two seconds later I heard Kyler fall to the ground screaming/crying. Apparently, Kyler had woken up and was on his way to our room when he met Lucy in the hallway. Lucy couldn't hear Kyler get up and became scared of him. She bolted underneath our bed and I had to pick Kyler up and try to explain to him why Lucy was so mean to him. Lucy, then, came out from under the bed and jumped up onto the bed. With it being dark, all I noticed was a dark spot left from where Lucy had jumped onto the bed. The only thing I could think of was that Kyler had literally scared the shit out of her. "Oh great, there was now dog shit on our bed." I thought to myself. After turning on the light, it became apparent that it was not as I thought rather, it was blood. Lucy's paw was bleeding profusely. So I wiped it off and realized that one of her toenails was completely missing! With all of the commotion, it must have gotten caught on something and came off. We later found the missing toenail right outside out bedroom door. We bandaged it up and can only hope that it will grow back soon!

34 Weeks

I just paid my bi-weekly visit to Dr. Stoltz on Friday, and we have nothing but good news to report. I am holding quite steady at a 12 pound weight gain. The baby is head-down, which we weren't sure of last time. The heartbeat was hovering right at 133 bpm, once we were able to "trap" the baby in one place to hear the heartbeat long enough to get a reading. This baby surely likes to move around all of the time! My belly measured at 33 cm, which is just 1 cm shy of where I should be at this point. And other than the fatigue and hip aches, I am feeling pretty healthy. I am just getting really excited to meet this little one and not be pregnant any longer! Only 6 more weeks!

Ready for baby?

The other night we had some friends over for dinner. Lanie, Kyler's buddy who is 2 weeks younger than he is, accidentally left her baby doll. Upon finding it, Kyler said, "Ut oh, Lanie left her baby!" I told him that we can take care of it until we see them again. He agreed and ever since he has been taking very good care of it. He has swaddled her up in her blanket, said, "Mom, her's crying!", put her into the Bumbo and fed her soup, and has "snuggled" with her at night. So last night while I was putting away Kyler's laundry, I couldn't help but to snap this picture (which he may someday hate me for).I can only hope that he will be so kind to his younger sibling! I'm sure that he will be a terrific big brother!

Crazy Dreams

As with Kyler's pregnancy, this pregnancy has produced some pretty wild dreams! The other night I dreamt that I was training for a triathlon. I was racing against my students with a big pregnant belly and all. For some reason, I couldn't figure out why I was getting so winded! The baby was probably pushing on my diaphragm while I was sleeping to cause heavy breathing. Then, just last night, I dreamt that we went out of town with some friends (which we are actually planning on doing later this month). We were all enjoying adult beverages and having a grand ol' time! Too bad this won't be happening! I think I am subliminally ready to be finished with this pregnancy. I know what I will be doing once this baby is born...and it probably won't be training for a triathlon!

29 Weeks

I am 29 weeks pregnant...according to the baby ticker I only have 76 days left! I think this pregnancy has gone by a lot quicker than Kyler's! Many people have been asking us if we know what we're having...my response, "a baby"! So then the next question becomes, "Well, is this pregnancy different than Kyler's was?" Yes, it has been much different. I feel as though I am "carrying" both of the children very similarly, however, I have felt a lot different. With Kyler I had lots of constipation, heartburn and a tiny bit of morning sickness. I also gained a lot more weight with him. With this baby, I have gained 10 pounds, had NO constipation, tons of heartburn, hip aches, morning sickness every morning for the first 19 weeks, and I feel as though this baby moves way more than Kyler did! So my prediction = girl. Not only because I have felt a lot different, but the Chinese Birth Calendar says girl, and Kyler is staying consistent with his prediction of girl and he has even begun to use the pronouns her/she! We will be finding out real soon!

In terms of names, we have really stewed over them (as we did with Kyler). I really like the name Addison. So we unofficially decided on Addison Joy until our grandmothers became really sick. This baby is due on April 3 and my grandmother's 86th birthday is on April 4, so we have now been considering a namesake. My grandmother's maiden name is Dorothy Jane Kennedy, therefore a few more options have become available. We are throwing around Addison Jane or Kennedy Jane. We recently have found out that Josh's grandmother is really sick as well, so if we have a girl we will have a very difficult decision to make. In terms of boy names, we really haven't talked much about them. I wanted to name Kyler Blake, but Josh wasn't too fond of that name at the time. However, he did tell me that if this baby is a boy I could use Blake. Therefore, the only boy name that we have come up with is Blake James. My mother pointed out that Kennedy could be used as a boy name as well, so who knows!

After my doctor's appointment today, all is going well. My doctor commented on how easy I make being pregnant look...she's not around in the the evening when I complain about being exhausted, having killer heartburn and my hip aches from standing all day. Poor Josh, he's got to hear all that practically every night. I do, however, have a low blood count so I have to start taking iron supplements - an easy fix. Other than that, my blood pressure is great, my uterus is measuring right at 29 centimeters, and the baby's heartbeat was very strong at 130 bpm. I am starting to go to the doctor more frequently, so hopefully I'll be updating the blog more frequently!

Update

Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know I have been HORRIBLE at blogging (I hope to get back to once a week, but with a 2 1/2 year old and a new baby on the way, I'm not too sure that that will happen). Lots have happened in our household since I blogged last...

1/14/11 - I know this sounds a little silly, but I was awarded a ELMO document camera and an LCD projector from the Scott Elementary PTO and it was installed in my classroom. I am very excited about using it to better my teaching and feel as though it will make my teaching world just a little bit brighter! Thanks Dr. Wallace and the PTO!

1/12/11 - Kyler's first official trip to the dentist. We went last month with daddy for his cleaning so we could see what happens at the dentist...then immediately afterwards we went to the library and Kyler wanted to get books about the dentist. He did a fabulous job during his "cleaning"! After climbing up into the chair all by himself, he was able to try out all of the nifty tools. He opened wide, and the hygienist had nothing but good news to report. "Kyler has terrific jaw structure and very strong teeth for a 2 year-old!" I couldn't have heard better news!Showing off his pearly whites!

1/11/11 - Josh had an orthopedic appointment and got clearance to bear weight on his injured leg! Bye, bye crutches and "roll-a-bout"! He came home dancing a jig!

1/9/11 - Playing in the snow! The first real snow that Kyler has been able to play in this season!
1/8/11 - We finally met our new niece, Baby Hadley Marie Urich! Josh's brother, Jeremy and his wife, Toni came down to Cheyenne, WY for the weekend to celebrate Toni's Aunt's birthday. We decided since we were unable to make it to Gilette for Thanksgiving that we would make the short trip to Cheyenne for the day. It was wonderful, and baby Hadley is beautiful!Kyler even got some baby practice in!
1/3/11 - Back to school, back to school. Bittersweet. I believe that I am truly meant to be a working mother, but after having two full weeks off spent with my two favorite boys, family and friends, I found it difficult to get the balance between my working life and my home life going again. I'm sure it will be even more challenging come next August when I have to send two children to childcare.

1/1/11 - Being a numbers person, this is great way to start a brand new year! The only resolution I have made this year is to just live my life in the best way I know how to be happy and healthy! I really can't make a resolution to lose weight when I'm trying to gain it (I have only gained 9 lbs. and am in my third trimester of pregnancy)! Possibly after the baby is born I will resolve to lose all of the baby weight (Maybe the Kinyons will let me borrow P90X). Happy New Year 2011!

12/26/10 - 1/1/11 - We made our annual visit to the Urich's farm! When Josh became injured and being pregnant myself, we weren't sure that we were going to be able to make it. Just after Christmas the weather was cooperating, so we took our chances, went over the mountain passes, and made it there safely in record time! Because of our conditions, we were unable to do things that we would normally do over there, but we did get in a date night, a walk around the farm, Kyler helped grandpa feed the cows, Josh got in some extreme video gaming time with his brother, and we were able to just hang out and relax with good company! The day we intended to come home there was a terrible snowstorm in the mountains, so to played it safe and stayed a few days longer than planned. It was a great time for Kyler to get to know his grandma, grandpa and Uncle Jake! What happens at Grandma's stays a Grandma's - right?
12/26/10 - Kyler is 2 1/2! He still astounds me each and everyday! He is speaking mostly in complete sentences, singing his ABC's, counting to 14, knows all of his basic colors, using the potty (SOME of the time - we are still working on this one), dressing himself, talking about everything, and trying to "read" books on his own. Kyler is becoming more and more independent each and everyday! His favorite things, in no particular order, are: sports (football right now since it is in season), trains, books, playing in a band, eating, "snuggling", "Abby" (aka Sesame Street), Mom, Dad, and Lucy. Kyler is still a big boy for is age. He weighs in at 32 pounds, and measures 38 inches tall!He randomly says, "I love you!" and has a smile that can melt anyone's heart! I couldn't be more proud. Kyler Allan, I love you and you make my world a better place!

12/25/10 - Merry Christmas! I do have to say that this was one of the most anticipated Christmases I have EVER had. Once you are a parent (especially a parent of a 2 1/2 year-old), Christmas becomes much more exciting! Santa treated all of us very well.
We also made it over to my brother's house for brunch. It was so nice to spend quality time with the ones we love!
12/24/10 - Let the festivities begin! We went over to my Aunt Jane's house for our annual, extended family gathering. Nan with 7 of her grandchildren (two were missing), and 5 1/2 great-grandchildren.
12/21/10 - Gymnastics, Dr. visit, and "Ginger mans" - What a busy day! Every Tuesday Debbie brings her daycare children to gymnastics. This is the first time I have been able to make it! It was just so neat to see all of the cool things (the balance beam, rope swing, bouncy house, stretches, spring board and trampoline) that Kyler was able to do. He was so cute, every once in a while, he would look over to where I was sitting and give and a sly little smile and wave! After gymnastics, I had a routine doctor visit to check on the baby. My mom and John were able to hear the heartbeat of their newest grandchild!

Then when we came home we had gingerbread man baking on the list. The last time we went to the library, Kyler and I got a couple different versions of "The Gingerbread Man", so I promised him that we would make our own gingerbread men.He said, "I like the fox, and eat him up!" Kyler was also convinced that when they were finished baking they would hop up and run as fast as they could out of the oven! It was a great time!
